Hongkong, 6th November, 1919.
The Honourable
Sir,
The Colonial Secretary.
218
My son, Antonio Hermenegildo Basto, who has been a student in London since 1911, applied some time ngo for naturalization as a British subject, but probably owing to his not being known in London he has up to now not been able to obtain the necessary application form.
2.
He has already passed the Third Year Course of the Architectural Association School of Architecture, and is desirous of becoming an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects of London but is unable to do so unless
he becomes a British subject.
3.
Under these circumstances I beg to request you
to be good enough to address the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies certifying that the particulars contained in the enclosed statement are true and that he is a fit and proper person to be naturalized as a
British subject.
4.
For the purpose of identification I am enclos- -ing a copy of this photograph.
5.
I shall be much obliged if you could also let me have a copy of your letter to the Secretary of State so that I may forward it to my son in London to facilitate his
application.
I remain etc.,
($1.) J. M. de Castro Basto,
